In 2008, John completed a landscape plan and construction details for the new assisted living complex at Dogwood Village in Orange. In 2010, the management approached him about designing a garden in a little-used area behind the building.
There was already a large rain garden located in the center of the space. John used his knowledge of healing garden design to develop plans for the garden.
The project included a large terrace which was broken up into smaller seating/gathering areas surrounded by plantings.
The focus of the garden was a small fountain, located so that all could hear it and interact with it. Completing the garden was an exercise walk that made a circuit with the seating terrace. Also included in the design was lighting and drainage.
